Only female rats, shown here, were found to exhibit a significant difference with age in fecal SCFAs. The box plots display the 1st and 3rd quartiles with the horizontal line the median. The whiskers display minimum and maximum values. The data were collected from 5 rats per group, and values significantly different by FDR *q < 0.05 or values marginally significant by Fisher’s LSD p < 0.05 are shown.
